Sun and Sand - Santa Susanna, Spain

You can even jump in a bouncy castle while it is being towed behind a speedboat! Once the sun sets, there is plenty of party going on in Santa Susanna where you have your choice of countless bars, restaurants, and discos.

Thursday: Check in

After settling into your seat you will lean back and relax while your comfortable coach whisks you away to the Costa Brava, just up the coast from Barcelona. Don’t forget the essentials for your overnight ride.  Blankets, pillows, power banks and drinks will all help make your journey to Spain more enjoyable.

Friday: Check in and free time

Get ready to relax in Santa Susanna!  Your four star hotel, located on the waterfront promenade, will be your home base for a weekend full of adventure.  Whether you spend your time on the golden sands of Playa de las Dunas, or stay at the hotel enjoying its pools and spas, your weekend is likely to revolve around the water. At the Santa Susanna Watersports Centre, you will find JetSkis, paddleboards, kayak and other boat rental, and much more.  The promenade features countless restaurants and bars with varied entertainment options for everybody, and the train station will allow you easy access to a short train ride to Barcelona.

Saturday: Free time and Barcelona

On Saturday you can continue to play on the beach, or take a tour of Barcelona.  In the afternoon, you can remain in Barcelona and visit famous sites like the Sagrada Familia or Museo de Picasso on your own, or you can join an excursion to Montserrat*.  The monastery on this multi-peaked mountain was founded in the 11th century and houses the Virgin of Montserrat, one of the most important cultural and religious icons in Spain.  

Sunday: Free time or Girona*

How will you play in the water today?  Santa Susanna has countless options for fun and games both on the shore and in the sea.  If fun in the sun isn't your idea of a good time, you can take an excursion to Girona*, with its ancient old quarter and Cathedral of Saint Mary, which played the part of the Great Sept in Game of Thrones.  SHAME! on you if you miss the chance to visit this cultural highlight.

Monday: Return to Kaiserslautern

After breakfast you will board your bus for return to Kaiserslautern.  Relax while the bus returns you to your point of origin.

  • Room assignments for families will be determined by the hotel based on their specific capacity and available room types. 
  • Families will be assigned to triple rooms or adjoining double rooms by the hotels.
  • Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation will request family rooms for larger families, but does not guarantee the room configuration assigned by the hotel.

Cancellation Terms: 

  • 10% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or prior to Monday, August 1
  • 40% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or after Tuesday, August 2
  • 60% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or after Wednesday, August 10
  • 70% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or after Wednesday, August 17
  • 100% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or after Thursday, August 25
  • In the event that an individual passenger is not able to participate in a confirmed trip due to COVID restrictions placed on the passenger, full cancellation penalties may be applied based on the date of the customer's cancellation.
  • In the event that a customer cancellation results in a fee charged to Outdoor Recreation, regardless of the date of or reason for that cancellation, the total sum of those fees will be passed along to the customer.

COVID Precautions (Current as of 15 April, 2022.  May be superseded by Local/State/Federal level laws): 

  • Continuing until further notice, all Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation trips fall under the German 3G rule:
    • Service is restricted to vaccinated, recovered, or recently tested personnel (Antigen test valid for 24hrs, PCR test valid for 48hrs). 
    • Persons who cannot be vaccinated against the coronavirus for medical reasons (with a qualified medical certificate and children up to and including the age of 11 are exempt.
  • Masks covering your nose and mouth must be worn on ODR vehicles whenever required by local law.
  • In the event that an individual passenger is not able to participate in a confirmed trip due to COVID restrictions placed on the passenger, full cancellation penalties may be applied based on the date of the customer's cancellation.
  • All participants are required to be in compliance with the rules for their destination and all countries of transit as listed in the Travel Planner on at the time of departure.
  • All Travel/COVID Documentation is the responsibility of the passenger.
  • PCR and RAT (Rapid Antigen Tests) are the only approved testing methods. Self tests are not authorized for international travel.
  • No refunds will be offered to passengers who are denied boarding or are removed from a trip for failure to follow COVID procedures.  
  • Trip timelines and schedule and COVID precautions are subject to change at any time.
  • Hands must be sanitized before boarding ODR vehicles.
  • Enter and exit through the rear door only.
  • Seats may be assigned by ODR in advance to promote physical distancing and contact tracing. Requests for specific seats are not being accepted.
