Estimated Itinerary
Friday: Kaiserslautern to Garmisch
An early morning departure from your choice of either Pulaski or Smith Barracks will place you in Garmisch by the middle of the day. While your rooms will not be guaranteed to be ready until this afternoon, you can drop your luggage off with the front desk at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort and enjoy being in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. Multiple ways to get to the top can take you to glacier at the top of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak, or to the clear AlpspiX viewing platform which overlooks the beautiful Bavarian village. After exploring Garmisch, your room will be ready for you to check in and you will be perfectly positioned for a short and stress free ride to the Oktoberfest fairgrounds, an hour away in Munich.
Saturday: Oktoberfest
After breakfast you will board our private bus for a short ride to Munich and the world’s largest Volksfest. Munich has been celebrating the Oktoberfest since 1810, when the guests at the royal wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig to Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen had such a good time that they decided to do it again every year. Whether you spend your day in one of the tents or on the midway enjoying the carnival rides, games and food stands, or even wandering the streets of Munich, you will surely soak in a years worth of Bavarian gemuchlichkeit today. At the end of your day, its just a short ride back to Garmisch where another comfortable evening at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort awaits you.
Sunday: Return
Today your coach returns you to Rheinland-Pfalz. Rather than a raucous party bus, your Sunday return trip should be a relaxed experience which arrives at your starting point in the early evening.
