- Functional Fitness Building Rules (SOP)

1. PURPOSE: To establish the policies and procedures for the ROB Functional Fitness Training Center, building 229.
2. APPLICABILITY: This SOP applies to the Functional Fitness Training Center assigned to United States Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Fitness, Athletics, and Aquatics program.
3. ELIGIBILITY: The following personnel are authorized to use this facility in accordance with AR 215-1:
- All U.S. Active Duty military personnel
- DOD Civilians and Family Members 18 years and older
4. FACILITY USAGE: The primary use of this facility will be for “Functional Fitness”, combatives, and Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) training. Tentative hours, unless otherwise posted, will be Monday thru Friday, 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. To utilize this facility, a key must be signed out at the ROB Physical Fitness Center (PFC) located in building 172.
The facility may be reserved for unit training. Reservations, however, must be made at least one (1) week in advance. Individuals wishing to make a reservation should call Civ. 0631-3406-2241.
5. GENERAL RULES: Functional Fitness Training Center users will be responsible for adhering to all facility guidelines concerning protection and cleanliness. This includes the safety of the participants involved in the training.
a. All keys signed out must be returned immediately upon leaving the facility or in accord with arrangements made with the ROB PFC Facility Manager or designee.
b. All equipment and weights utilized should be returned to their respective racks following use.
c. All equipment should be sanitized following use.
d. A spotter should be utilized when lifting. A buddy system is highly encouraged.
e. No food or drinks besides bottled water allowed in the facility.
f. Appropriate gym attire, that includes clean clothing and athletic shoes, must be worn.
g. Horseplay is prohibited.
h. Be considerate of others. Use one piece of equipment at a time and allow other users to use equipment in between your sets.
i. All bags brough into the facility should be placed in lockers on site.
j. Headphones must be used with all devices.
k. Report any damage to equipment immediately to the ROB PFC staff.
l. No pets allowed in the facility.
m. Bicycles, mopeds, and electric scooter storage within the facility while working out is prohibited.
n. Bringing or using chalk in the facility is prohibited.
o. At least two people must be in the facility at all times.
6. MEDICAL: For minor injuries, cuts, scratches, etc., a small first aid kit has been placed within the facility. For emergencies, an emergency phone as well as an AED have been positioned in the facility as well. 112 should be called.
7. SUSPENSION OF PRIVILEGES: A person using the facility who willfully abuses staff, destroys property, or does not comply with facility rules will be reported to their Chain of Command. Facility Manager and the Chief of Fitness, Athletics, and Aquatics are reserved the rights to suspend privileges.

Military Unit reservations limited to one hour per unit, per week or a space-available basis.
Unit POCs are required to obtain an orientation.
Unit POC orientations offered during normal staffed hours (6:00-8:30 am) in BLDG 229.
