Friday: Arrival in San Remo, the "City of Flowers"
Wake up to the Italian sunshine as your journey culminates on Friday morning in San Remo. After you arrive at your waterfront hotel and store your bags, you are free to get your first taste of Ligurian life. You could begin with a classic Italian aperitivo at a sidewalk cafe, stroll the grand, palm-lined Corso dell'Imperatrice, or simply find a bench to watch the yachts in the harbor. You won't have to look far; the sandy stretch of the Italo Calvino beach is just across the street from your hotel. Tonight, you can seek out a local restaurant for regional specialties like fresh-made trofie al pesto before returning to your hotel for the first of several relaxing overnights.
Saturday: Your Choice: French Riviera Glamour or San Remo Relaxation
On Saturday, you have a decision to make: enjoy a full free day to relax and explore San Remo, or join our included day trip to the dazzling French Riviera.
The excursion begins in Cannes, where you can feel like a movie star as you promenade along the iconic Boulevard de la Croisette. Gaze at the superyachts in the harbor, browse the windows of couture boutiques, and see the famous Palais des Festivals, home of the world's most glamorous film festival.
From there, we journey to Nice, the vibrant Queen of the Riviera. Here, you can get lost in the charming, pastel-colored alleys of the Old Town (Vieux Nice), or find one of the famous blue chairs to relax and admire the stunning view of the Bay of Angels from the legendary Promenade des Anglais.
Sunday: Free Day - San Remo, Monaco, or Coastal Cycling
Sunday is your day to design. You could stay local and explore San Remo’s glamorous past with a visit to the opulent, Art Nouveau Casino di Sanremo, then venture into La Pigna, the city’s medieval core. For a more active day, consider renting a bicycle and exploring a section of the Pista Ciclabile, a fantastic 24km bike path along the coast. Alternatively, for a taste of legendary glamour, you could book an excursion with a local tour provider the nearby principality of Monaco, where you can see the Prince's Palace, Maritime Museum and the world-famous casinos of Monte Carlo.
Monday: A Final Espresso & Homeward Bound
After a final Italian breakfast, you will board the bus for your journey home through the stunning scenery of the Swiss Alps, filled with memories of the Italian Riviera's warmth and the French Riviera's style.
