Visit Amsterdam, Holland’s “Venice of the North” on King’s Day!

King’s Day in Amsterdam just may be the world’s largest birthday party, when the entire population of The Netherlands turns out to celebrate the King’s birthday.  On King's Day in Amsterdam, everyone wears orange, and so should you. If you aren’t covered in head to toe orange, you aren’t doing it right. You can eat like a king all day, with delicious treats around every corner and hundreds of street food vendors lining the roads and squares. Make sure you try a tompouce pastry, the unofficial snack of King’s Day.  On King’s Day, everyone is allowed to sell or trade their items and Amsterdam becomes a citywide flea market, filled with bargains and interesting trinkets from the attics of Amsterdam’s old houses.  Amsterdam’s canals are flooded with a sea of orange on King’s Day, as thousands of brightly decorated party boats fill the famous waterways. And don’t worry about everything being closed for the holiday, you can still visit museums on King’s Day and you don't even have to take off your orange wig! The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Anne Frank House will all be open on King’s Day.

There ain’t no party like a King’s Day Party! Don't miss your chance to be part of the royal celebration.
