Get medieval at the Kaltenberg Knight’s Tournament!

Every summer for over 30 years, Duke Franz Wittelsbach of Bavaria hosts a giant medieval festival, not in a ruin, but on the grounds of his family estate, Schloss Kaltenberg, a real castle, with a real Duke! Since 1973, this festival has grown in size and participation, and is now the largest medieval festival in the world, culminating with a jousting show in a 10,000 seat arena. This year’s show will feature over 100 actors, spectacular swordsmanship, horse mastery, and explosive pyrotechnics! Also present at the festival will be period artists, merchants and actors. The festival includes 7 open-air stages, spontaneous street shows, and a grand parade. All the while, the traditional handcrafts and culinary delicacies will invite you to linger and tarry in the giant medieval marketplace.

Reserved seats “for the nobility” are only available until the end of June. If you reserve your space late you may have to watch the joust from the standing area with the rest of “the commoners”. Charge into Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation today to reserve your guaranteed seat in the arena.
