Your holiday begins when you board the dedicated airport shuttle to Frankfurt, departing from your choice of Pulaski or Smith Barracks. After a short flight to northern Italy and a scenic transfer to the coast, you will check into the waterfront Hotel Vile Park Premium. Thursday: Germany to the Slovenian Riviera

Dive headfirst into your Memorial Day Slovenian Beach Weekend with a short and stress-free flight to Trieste, Italy. After landing, a quick, scenic transfer will whisk you across the Slovenian border, and straight to the waterfront Hotel Vile Park Premium in Portorož. You will know you have arrived in paradise when you see your hotel's premium location, sitting right on the water and built around a historic 15th-century bell tower. Because your package includes half-board dining, a delicious dinner will be waiting for you, meaning your only job for tonight is to drop your bags, relax, and watch the sunset over the Adriatic Sea.

Friday: Day Trip to Ljubljana

After breakfast, you will have the chance to explore Ljubljana (pronounced Loob Lee Ya Na), one of Europe’s greenest and most charming capital cities. A completely car-free city center makes wandering its cobblestone streets effortless, with street performers, lush riverside weeping willows, and bustling outdoor terraces around every bend. After a guided tour introduces you to Ljubljana's highlights, you will have plenty of time to stroll along the café-lined Ljubljanica River, take photos on the famous Dragon Bridge, or ride the glass funicular up to Ljubljana Castle for panoramic views of the city. With a vibrant Old Town packed with boutiques and outdoor markets, Ljubljana offers the perfect mix of history and modern culture. After a full day of exploring the capital, you will return to the coast just in time for dinner.

Saturday: Coastal Exploration & Historic Piran

With your breakfast and dinner effortlessly handled by the hotel, Saturday is officially yours to design. The hotel's prime location makes local exploration incredibly easy. A scenic 20-minute walk along the gorgeous coastal path directly outside your hotel will take you to Piran, a stunning neighboring town famous for its Venetian architecture and the beautiful Tartini Square. Steeped in over 500 years of Venetian rule, Piran’s rich maritime past is reflected in its pastel palaces, narrow medieval alleyways, and the hilltop Church of St. George overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. When you get hungry for lunch, duck into a local taverna for fresh Mediterranean seafood or grab a quick slice of pizza by the water before heading back for your included buffet dinner.

Sunday: Seaside Relaxation & Water Activities

Today is all about soaking up the sun and enjoying the Adriatic coast. Even in late May, the local resort beaches are ready for you to lay down a towel, catch some rays, or take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear sea. If you prefer warmer water, you will have complimentary access to the massive indoor Sea Waterpark Termaris next door, featuring heated sea water pools, waterslides, and stunning views. For a change of scenery, follow the coastal promenade the other direction into bustling Portorož. Known as the entertainment and wellness hub of the Slovenian coast, its sweeping harbor and marina area offer everything from seaside gelaterias to independent water-sport rentals where you can pick up paddleboards or pedal boats to get out onto the bay.

Monday: The Journey Home

With an early afternoon flight home, your morning begins at an easy pace. Start the day with a relaxed Mediterranean breakfast overlooking the water, followed by time for one final seaside stroll, a quick souvenir stop, or a quiet coffee in the sun. Mid-morning checkout and a comfortable late-morning transfer will take you back across the Italian border to the airport in plenty of time for your flight.
