After a short flight you will find yourself in Dublin, ready to start your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
While the highlight of your Paddy’s Day visit to Dublin is sure to be the world famous parade featuring marching bands from around the world, there is so much more to see and do in Dublin during Paddy’s Week. Special tours, events, entertainment and fun-fairs will be happening through the city, and of course Dublin’s most famous attractions, including the Guinness Storehouse, the Dublin Zoo, the National Leprechaun Museum and Jameson Distillery will be open to visit. On Sunday, you will have the chance to take a day trip into the nearby Wicklow Mountains, sometimes described as the greenest part of the Emerald Isle. This enchanting scenery excursion will include a visit to Powerscourt Gardens, listed by National Geographic as the 3rd most beautiful garden in the world and the Glendalough Visitor Centre which will open a window into the 6th century monastic period. Your return flight on the 18th takes off in the afternoon, allowing you a final morning exploring Dublin or a morning to just take it easy and relax after a busy holiday celebration.
Only those with the luck-o’-the-Irish get to celebrate Paddy’s Day in Dublin. Paddy’s Day is a huge event. Airlines have limited capacity and early deadlines. Contact Army Outdoor Recreation today to reserve your trip to Ireland!
Estimated Itinerary
Saturday: Fly to Ireland | Dublin City Tour
Theres no need to pay for parking at the airport or take an expensive airport shuttle to Frankfurt when you fly with Army Outdoor Recreation. Our included airport shuttle will pick you up at your choice of either Pulaski or Smith barracks and take you directly to Frankfurt Airport. This afternoon you will find yourself in Dublin, where, after a bus tour familiarizes you with the layout of the city, you will check into a four star hotel in The Liberties, one of Dublin’s most historic neighborhoods and located within walking distance of Dublin’s downtown district on the River Liffey. From this home base it is easy to get to Dublin Castle, Fleet Street and Temple Bar, Christ Church Cathedral or see the Book of Kells at Trinity College.
Sunday: Free Day or Wicklow Mountain Excursion
Today you have the option to visit the Wicklow Mountains the “greenest part of the Emerald Isle”. Less than an hour away from Dublin’s center, the wild and rugged terrain in this natural wonderland is Ireland’s largest national park and has been seen in many films including Braveheart, Excalibur and Michael Collins. A scenic day awaits you as your guide points out Wicklow’s wide open vistas, forested valleys, mountains and streams. A visit to Glendalough will introduce you to an important part of Ireland’s history, the monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin. The meticulously crafted gardens and perfectly manicured landscape at Powerscourt House, named the 3rd best garden in the world by National Geographic never fail to amaze and impress visitors to the 47 acre estate. Your day may also include a brief stop in Kilkenny if time permits before returning to Dublin in the late afternoon.
Monday: Free Day in Dublin
Whether you visit Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery or the National Leprechaun Museum, your visit to Dublin is sure to include just what you wanted it to include. Your hotel’s location in The Liberties, one of Dublin’s oldest neighborhoods is conveniently close to most of Dublin’s major attractions, while many programs available through the tourist office or local operators will allow you to join a day trip to destinations around Ireland like Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, the Titanic Museum in Belfast or the rugged coastlines and megalithic monuments in County Cork.
Tuesday: Paddy’s Day
Your hotel is just 400 meters from the intersection of Patrick Street and Kevin Street, where the parade route passes by St. Patrick’s Cathedral, but that doesn't mean you can sleep in today. Everybody’s Irish on Paddy’s Day and over half a million people are expected to begin lining the streets of Dublin long before the St. Patrick's Day Parade departs from the Black Church at noon. In 2025, over 4000 people participated in the parade which always features some of the most famous marching bands from around the world; colorful, creatively dressed performers, and an extravagant display of fantastic floats winding through the most historic parts of Dublin. Even after the parade winds to a close at St. Stephen’s Green, other events and activities will keep the celebrations alive all day long. Whether you spend the afternoon at the City Funfair on the Custom House Quay, visit the pubs and restaurants in the Temple Bar district, take one of many locally operated tours, or wait until after sunset for the unique photographic opportunities when some of Dublin’s most famous buildings light up green, you will be sure to enjoy Paddy’s Day in Dublin.
