Explore the beautiful city of Salzburg, home to Mozart and Maria Von Trapp before an excursion to the famous landmarks of Berchtesgaden.
After your late morning arrival in Salzburg, you will have plenty of free time available for exploring the UNESCO world heritage city of Mozart. Visit the Stiegl Brewery, Mozart’s birth house, the massive medieval fortress or take the Sound of Music tour in the afternoon before you check into your hotel for a relaxing evening. You wont get lost when you download a free E-Travelguide from Army Libraries before your day in Salzburg. On Sunday, you will visit Berchtesgaden where you will visit the famous saltmines, and of course no visit to Berchtesgaden would be complete without taking the mountain road to the notorious Kehlsteinhaus, also known as The Eagle’s Nest, one of the most “must see” destinations to anyone stationed in Europe. On your way home on Monday, you will visit King Ludwig’s private version of Versailles, the island palace of Herrenchiemsee.
