Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation and Baumholder Outdoor Recreation have teamed up to make it even easier for you plan your 2025/2026 winter sports season. The same ski trips begin at your choice of either Smith or Pulaski Barracks, and an early bird discount minimizes your costs.

The charming Swiss village of Champéry provides magnificent access to the immense Portes du Soleil, one of the largest cross-border ski areas in the world. This vast domain links 12 resorts across France and Switzerland, offering an incredible 600 kilometers of pistes, all accessible on a single lift pass. From Champéry, a cable car quickly whisks you up into the heart of the system, where you can explore endless cruisers, tackle challenging itineraries, or test your courage on the legendary "Le Mur Suisse" (the Swiss Wall), one of the steepest and most formidable mogul runs in the world. The ability to ski from one country to another for lunch and then return in the afternoon makes for a uniquely European experience, all set beneath the stunning backdrop of the Dents du Midi mountain range.

When you go skiing or snowboarding with Army Outdoor Recreation you leave all your concerns behind. No skills?  No problem! Beginner ski and snowboard lessons are often available from PSIA/AASI trained instructors! No gear? No fear! Army Outdoor Recreation offers free equipment rentals on all ski trips!  Get sized for equipment one time and you can use that information to make equipment reservation whenever you sign up for a ski trip.  You will find your gear ready for you when you arrive to check in for the trip. Nothing could be easier!

Adventures begin here! Whether you board the bus in Kaiserslautern or Baumholder, you will enjoy skiing or snowboarding in the Birthplace of Alpine Skiing when your ski trip begins at Army Outdoor Recreation!

Price:

  • Early Bird Registration 14 or more days prior to departure: $149 per person
  • Full Price registration 13 or fewer days prior to departure: $169 per person
     
  • Snow pants rental: $15 (Kaiserslautern Only)
  • 2 hour adult beginner ski or snowboard lesson: $50 p.p. based on instructor availability

Trip Includes:

  • Round trip transportation
  • Free ski/snowboard equipment rental
     
  • Lift tickets not included

What to Bring:

  • Skis/Snowboard, boots, poles
  • Hat or helmet, sunglasses or goggles
  • Waterproof outerwear/gloves
  • Multiple layers of inner clothing

Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellations requested 48 hours prior to trip departure will receive a 90% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to departure will receive a 50% refund.
  • There is no refund for no-shows or cancellations made less than 12 hours prior to departure.
     
  • In the event that a customer cancellation results in a fee charged to Outdoor Recreation, regardless of the date of or reason for that cancellation, the total sum of those fees will be passed along to the customer.
