Join SKIES unlimited and Mary Edwards as they offer family knitting classes for ages 9 and up!
Class Descriptions
Beginner Knitter: In addition to learning knitting basics, students will learn fun and historical facts about knitting. By the completion of this course students will know the knitting skills of how to cast-on their needle, the knit stitch, the purl stich, and how to bind-off their work preparing them for the next steps of their knitting journey.
Knit With Me Beginner: A fun way to learn the craft of knitting as a family! In the Knit With Me Beginner, students learn the same skills as in the Beginner Knitter course (how to cast-on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch and how to cast off) while sharing this learning experience with a parent.
Easy Knitting Ages 9-11: The next level of the beginner knitter’s journey where students build on the skills learned in the Beginner Knitter course.
In this course students learn the stockinette stitch, how to read a pattern, seaming, and weaving in ends. Max 6 students
Easy Knitting Ages 12+: The next level of the beginner knitter’s journey where students build on the skills learned in the Beginner Knitter course. In this course Students learn the stockinette stitch, ribbing, how to read a knit pattern, seaming, and weaving in ends.
Easy Knitting With Me Ages 9-11: Just like the Easy Knitting course, students build on the skills learned in the Beginner Knitter class by learning how to read a pattern, increasing, and weaving in ends, while sharing this learning experience with a parent.
Easy Knitting With Me Ages 12+: Just like the Easy Knitting course, students build on the skills learned in the Beginner Knitter class by learning the stockinette stitch, how to read a pattern, seaming, and weaving in ends, while sharing this learning experience with a parent.
Intermediate knitting: In this course students will add to their knitting skill set by learning how to knit in the round with double pointed needles, how to color change, increase, and decrease while completing a project that incorporates all these new skills.
Instructor Mary Edwards:
Mary Edwards has 15 years’ experience in the fiber arts, is a certified knitting instructor through the Craft Yarn Council, and in addition to sharing her love of knitting through teaching, Mary designs her own knit patterns, and tech edits patterns for other designers.
