Thursday: Escape to the Austrian Alps & Spa Relaxation

Kick off your four-day weekend by joining Army Outdoor Recreation on our annual trip to the Kaprun glacier. Board our comfortable touring coach at your choice of Pulaski or Smith Barracks and leave the stress of the work week behind. As you travel south through Germany and into the stunning Austrian Alps, you can lean back, relax, and swap ski stories with your fellow travelers.

Upon arriving in the charming alpine village of Schüttdorf, you will check into your home for the weekend: the luxurious four-star Latini Hotel, when it will be time to shift into full vacation mode. Head straight to the hotel's premium wellness and spa center to melt away any travel fatigue. You can take a dip in the indoor pool, relax in the saunas, and prep your muscles for tomorrow's heavy riding on the glacier. Once you are fully refreshed, you will sit down to a well-earned dinner prepared by the hotel staff. Your Thanksgiving holiday escape has officially begun.

Friday: First Tracks on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier

Wake up early and fuel up at the breakfast buffet because the mountain is calling. Today is your first full day carving up the legendary Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Rising to an impressive altitude of over 3,000 meters, this massive resort offers reliable, deep snow while lower altitude locations are still waiting for winter to arrive. Whether you want to cruise wide alpine runs, test your skills in the snow parks, or hunt for untouched powder bowls, the glacier has terrain for every skill level. After a full day of shredding, you can head back to the Hotel Latini to soothe your legs in the sauna before digging into another fantastic included dinner.

Saturday: Pushing Your Limits

With the season's first day on the snow already under your belt, your legs are warmed up and ready to explore even more of the mountain. Today is all about maximizing your time on the slopes and hitting the runs you missed yesterday. Take a break at the spectacular Gipfel Restaurant—the highest restaurant in the Salzburg region at over 3,000 meters—for a warm lunch and panoramic views of Austria's highest peaks. After the lifts close for the day, you can soak up the vibrant, lakeside apres-ski atmosphere in Schüttdorf and nearby Zell am See, or head straight back into the hotel spa before returning to the dining room for your final included group dinner.

Sunday: Stress-Free Return to Germany

Enjoy a leisurely morning and one last Austrian hotel breakfast before loading the bus for the journey home. You can sleep the whole way back if you want to, or enjoy the views as the Austrian and Bavarian Alps pass by. Your bus driver is handling the heavy lifting on the highway, ensuring you arrive back at home rested and relaxed. Returning with fresh mountain memories and serious bragging rights, you will be warmed up for a fresh 2026/2027 ski season with Army Outdoor Recreation!
