Even though it is still very early in the season, it must be Christmas time, because once again, the Valkenburg Caves have turned into “Santa’s Home”. Visit stall after stall of Christmas vendors in this unique underground atmosphere, while sampling Dutch specialty foods like mini-pancakes, satay skewers, pea soup, and of course, a steaming glass of mulled wine. Two sets of caves await your visit during this trip, the Municipal Caves and the famous Velvet Caves. You will also have time to explore the quaint city center and climb to the castle ruins which gave the town its name.
