Participate in one of Venice’s most beloved feastivals, The Festival of the Redeemer.

The Festa del Redentore has its origins in one of the darkest and most terrifying moments for the entire Venice history: the plague of the 16th century.  After 2 frightening years in which one third of Venice’s population was claimed by the pestilence, the desperate Venetians asked for divine intervention by dedicating a new church across the bay from St. Marks Square hoping this show of piety would end the epidemic.  When the plague eased up later that year, the Venetians organized a celebration and procession to thank heaven for their redemption from disease.

This celebration is still held today, five centuries later.  During the day, countless boats will enter the grand lagoon while a temporary bridge is built to the church on the island of Giudecca.  For just one day each year, it is possible to walk from island to island.  After mass is held in the Church of the Redeemer, a glorious fireworks display will start at 11:30 pm.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellations requested 48 hours prior to trip departure will receive a 90% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to departure will receive a 50% refund.
  • There are no refunds for no-shows or cancellations made less than 12 hours prior to departure.
     
  • In the event that a customer cancellation results in a fee charged to Outdoor Recreation, regardless of the date of or reason for that cancellation, the total sum of those fees will be passed along to the customer.
