SKIES Unlimited now offers Irish Dance Classes for ages 4 to 18.
There are classes for Beginners (ages 4+) and Beginners (ages 8+), and placement classes for Primary/Intermediate and Preliminary/Open Championship (ages 7+).
Irish dance originates from Ireland, it consists of soft shoes and hard shoes like the show "Riverdance." Dancers first learn the basics in Irish dance like foot placement and holding their upper bodies very straight. The first dances you learn are easy reel and basic Irish jigs. When these are mastered, dancers start their heavy shoes. These shoes are made of fiberglass tips which create the wonderful rhythmic sounds.
SKIES Unlimited stands for “School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills” with the word “Unlimited” for the unlimited possibilities that this program provides children and youth. It offers a variety of cultural, artistic and physical activities for youth.
All participants must be registered with Army MWR Child and Youth Services. Enrollments can be made via WebTrac or over the phone with Parent Central Services.
